Description
The CAM Tapping command created a G84/G74 tapping Operation for circular holes. It was added as an experimental feature in 1.1 and superseded in 26.3 by the Tapping Strategy of the CAM Drilling operation. The command is no longer available in the toolbar or menu; Tapping operations in existing documents continue to recompute, but print a deprecation warning and cannot be newly created.
The Workplane property of a Tapping Operation links the Operation to a Work Plane of the Job.
Migration
To obtain the same result on 26.3, create a CAM Drilling operation, set Strategy to Tapping, select a Tool Controller whose Tool Bit is a tap with a non-zero Pitch, and set Extend depth as required. Left-hand taps are recognised through the Tool Bit Spindle Direction Reverse and produce G74.
Legacy properties
-
Dwell Enabled: Enable dwell.
-
Dwell Time: The time to dwell at bottom of tapping cycle.
-
Add Tip Length: Calculate the tip length and subtract from final depth.
-
Return Level: Controls how tool retracts Default=G98 (
G98orG99). -
Retract Height: The height where feed starts and height during retract tool when path is finished while in a peck operation.
-
Extra Offset: How far the tap depth is extended (
None,Drill Tip,2x Drill Tip).
The operation requires a Tool Bit with a Pitch (tap shape). When such an operation is converted to Drilling, Return Level G99 becomes Keep Tool Down and Retract Height is folded into Start Depth.
